.Fine jeweler Cartier is set to exhibit over 300 rare and exquisite jewelry items from the early 20th century Belle Epoque period through the 1970s at its “Cartier and America” exhibition at San Francisco’s Legion of Honor, this Saturday through April 2010, reports the San Francisco Examiner. The show focuses not only on fine jewelry, but also on the famous Americans that owned the pieces. The exhibit covers three main themes; precious gems, sentimental jewelry owned by American screen idols and finally, clocks.

Among the exhibits will be a first time debut of Princess Grace of Monaco’s personal jewelry, including her 10.47-carat emerald-cut diamond ring with two baguettes set in platinum, her diamond necklace and signature gold “bird” brooches.

Visitors will also find a unique brooch with rare Indian carved emeralds from the 1920s from a collection owned by cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and lent to the museum by Post’s Hillwood Estate Museum in Washington, D.C.
